My Endometriosis Journey

My Journey with Endometriosis and Homeopathy: A Path to Healing

In my late teens and early twenties, during my time at university, I began experiencing severe period pains and sharp discomfort in my lower right abdomen. Initially, my GP suspected IBS and prescribed medication accordingly. Despite my doubts, I took the medication but quickly realized it wasn’t helping. This led to a referral to a gynaecologist and, eventually, a laparoscopy that confirmed I had endometriosis and an ovarian cyst.

Back in the mid-90s, information on endometriosis was sparse. Following my doctor’s advice, I started a medication regimen that induced a temporary menopause by blocking my pituitary gland. This six-month treatment at age 20 was physically and emotionally taxing, especially during my final exams. I also tried essential oils and herbs to manage the symptoms, which provided some relief.

After the treatment, my periods resumed, but the endometriosis persisted along with new, intense mood swings—likely a consequence of the hormonal disruption. Despite frequent check-ups, my condition remained largely unchanged.

By the time I was 26, my gynecologist had little to offer in terms of treatment and suggested I consider having children soon due to potential future infertility—a notion far from my immediate plans.

A turning point came when I discovered homeopathy through a friend who was undergoing treatment. Impressed by her progress, I decided to explore this alternative therapy. Coincidentally, I met someone training to be a homeopath and started treatment without any expectations.

Homeopathy turned out to be transformative. It wasn’t just about addressing the physical symptoms of endometriosis; it involved deep emotional and psychological work. I unearthed and processed childhood traumas and past difficulties. This holistic approach not only alleviated my endometriosis and ovarian cyst symptoms but also cleared other underlying issues like candida.

By age 28, my symptoms had drastically improved. Through various remedies, I experienced what is often described as peeling back the layers of one’s being. This profound healing journey inspired me to study homeopathy, eager to help others find the same relief and freedom from pain.

The most rewarding aspect of my journey is ongoing. For over 20 years, I have remained symptom-free, thanks to regular homeopathy sessions. At 43, I gave birth to my first child naturally, defying the earlier prognosis about my fertility. Now, at 48 and navigating perimenopause, my symptoms are minimal.

I am passionate about sharing the benefits of homeopathy and guiding others through their healing journeys. It is incredibly fulfilling to witness others find relief from chronic pain and illness through this holistic approach. Homeopathy has been a beacon of hope for me, and I am dedicated to spreading that to others.
